About The Position

Serves in the physician practice setting assisting the orthopedic physicians and providers. The position will collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team and provide direct assistance to other medical providers such as physicians, advanced practice providers, physical therapists, medical assistants, and office support staff in providing care for our patients at HRH Hospitals and Clinics.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an CAATE approved athletic training curriculum program or internship program.
  • Licensure or eligibility for licensure in the State of Indiana.
  • National certification as an athletic trainer through the BOC, Inc.
  • Certified CPR.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer one year experience as an athletic trainer, but not essential.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for following patient care from check in to check out.
  • Responsible for taking patient history, initial evaluation and documentation.
  • Discuss patient’s initial evaluation and plan of care with physician and/or PA.
  • Carry out prescribed treatments and recommendations by the team physician or PA.
  • Responsible for patient setup and education of in office procedures.
  • Prepares for and assists physician with in-office procedures.
  • Liaison with surgery schedulers and ensure appropriate information is shared for accurate surgery set-up.
  • May or may not assist with surgical procedures in the operating room, depending on the specific physician practice.
  • Responsible for brace and crutch fitting and product education, casting application and removal, suture/staple removal and wound care.
  • Triages and responds timely and appropriately to patient messages, phone calls, and questions, whether it is resolving issues within the scope of duties or utilizing physician or other team members as needed.
  • Responsible for maintaining clinic flow between different areas of the clinic.
  • Liaison between patient, surgeon and office team.
  • Document all evaluations and treatments in EMR system.
  • Assist with daily operations of cleaning, maintaining orderly rooms, stocking medical supplies and forms, etc.
  • Use proper infection control procedures adopted by affiliated Surgery Centers and hospitals.
  • Meet the Company’s expectations as described in the VSON Policies and Practices.
  • Maintain confidentiality of Personal Identifiable Information (PII) in accordance with company Policies and State and Federal laws, including OHSA and HIPAA regulations.
  • Perform job in accordance with all company safety practices.
  • Maintains high quality level of skills and participates in ongoing educational opportunities adequate to maintain certification in good standing with the Board of Certification, Inc.
  • Participates in the presentation and preparation of in-services concerning job training.
  • Maintains current certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation
  • Follows program, department and hospital policies and procedures.
  • Supports hospital's mission and values statement, strategic plan and vision.
  • Also supports the program and department service statements and philosophies.
  • Maintains high quality level of skills and participates in ongoing educational opportunities adequate to maintain certification in good standing with the Board of Certification, Inc.
  • Participates in the presentation and preparation of in-services concerning job training.
  • Maintains current certification in Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation.
  • Clinical resource for call center, front desk, and other administrative personnel.
  • Optional coverage of community outreach events as required by program manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.
