The Athletic Trainer - Sports Medicine is responsible for performing injury assessments and referring patients for necessary care. They will communicate with patients to triage, answer questions, and provide instruction in self-care, prevention, and treatment. This role involves communication with the Physician and medical team to determine the need for special tests or services. The Athletic Trainer will establish a plan of care, implement individual treatments based on evaluation results and health goals, and monitor outcomes, adjusting the treatment plan as needed. They will also identify factors affecting patient comfort, advocate for patients, and provide after-visit summaries including home exercise programs, patient teaching, referrals, and equipment orders. All required documentation will be completed following department policy. The position requires the ability to perform patient positioning, transferring, and transporting duties, which involve lifting and pushing/pulling with proper technique. The incumbent must demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate for the age of the patients served, understanding principles of growth and development across the lifespan and assessing patient status based on age-specific needs.
