About The Position

The Pennington School seeks a dynamic, full-time board-certified Athletic Trainer for the 2026–27 academic year. The Athletic Trainer is responsible for the care, treatment, and prevention of athletic injuries for students participating in the School's interscholastic athletics program. Working under the direction of the Associate Director of Athletics and in coordination with the School physician, this role supports the health and well-being of student-athletes through injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, and rehabilitation. The ideal candidate is an organized and student-centered professional who values collaboration, communicates effectively with colleagues, and is committed to supporting students in a fast-paced school environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Current Board of Certification in the State of New Jersey
  • Demonstrated knowledge of injury prevention, evaluation, emergency care, and rehabilitation practices
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, coaches, and families

  • Valid driver's license required and ability to drive students or travel locally as needed in support of athletic programs
  • Successful completion of a background check and fingerprinting in accordance with New Jersey requirements

Responsibilities

  • Provide athletic training coverage for practices and competitions, including evenings, weekends, school holidays, and occasional off-campus events
  • Evaluate injuries, provide emergency care, and develop and implement appropriate treatment and rehabilitation plans
  • Support injury prevention through taping, bracing, and education
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and well-equipped athletic training room
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records, including injury and accident reports, treatment logs and daily treatment documentation, medical clearances and participation status, pre-season physicals (in coordination with the Health Center), and concussion baseline (IMPACT) testing and return-to-play protocols
  • Communicate regularly with the Associate Director of Athletics regarding student-athlete care and program needs
  • Communicate athlete participation and clearance status with coaches and relevant School personnel
  • Collaborate closely with the Health Center to monitor student health, documentation, and return-to-play progress
  • Support concussion management and supervise gradual return-to-play protocols
  • Assist in the preparation and management of team medical kits and emergency materials
  • Maintain inventory of athletic training supplies and assist with ordering as needed
  • Support general athletic department operations and administrative needs as appropriate
  • Demonstrate professionalism, collegiality, and strong communication with students, families, and colleagues
  • Other duties as needed
