About The Position

Midwest Orthopaedics at Rush is seeking a Certified Athletic Trainer to support a distinguished sports medicine physician. This role focuses on providing exceptional patient care in a collaborative environment, specializing in non-surgical orthopedic services. Under physician direction, the Athletic Trainer will offer administrative and clinical assistance, including patient intake, procedure support, and patient education on conditions and treatment plans. The position requires flexibility to travel between outpatient clinics in Chicago, IL, and Westchester, IL. Both new graduates and experienced candidates are encouraged to apply.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university.
  • Graduate of approved N.A.T.A school
  • Clinical experience preferably in medical practice setting.
  • Athletic Trainer Certified (ATC).

Responsibilities

  • Under physician supervision, evaluates referred patients and designs/implements plan of care based on physician preferences, patient functioning, diagnosis, treatment, self-management and access to health care resources.
  • Documents evaluations and plans of care.
  • Delivers physical care to patients following medical direction including monitoring of patient response and results during care.
  • Communicate with patient and/or family members in treatment, activities and home care based on physician preferences.
  • Provides preventative education and counseling to patients, families and groups regarding health maintenance, normal body function, injury prevention, strength and conditioning.
  • Performs duties of co-workers and subordinates as workload dictates.
  • Stays abreast of and comply with all state and federal laws including HIPAA, ADA, OSHA, and FLSA.
  • Completes special projects as assigned.
  • Work with the physician and patient on selecting appropriate orthotics, brace, and protective equipment.
  • Assist with office concussion screenings.
  • Coordination with a team physician to provide pre-competition physical exam and health history updates for teams as needed.
