About The Position

Nevada Athletics is recruiting for two positions at the levels of Athletic Trainer/Assistant or Associate Director. One of the positions will support Track and Field. The Athletic Trainer serves as a certified athletic trainer for student-athletes for assigned sports programs. The incumbent administers athletic training services, which may include, but are not limited to, screenings, injury assessment and treatment and individual case management of injured athletes undergoing rehabilitation. The position coordinates summer camps. Incumbent maintains a safe environment for staff and student-athletes. The Sports Medicine department medical decisions and actions are under the supervision of the team physicians. The Assistant Director diagnoses and treats injuries, staffs practices and events and maintains a safe environment for staff and student-athletes. The position maintains electronic medical records, primary insurance of each athlete, coordinates medical coverage needed, assists with operation of the University’s main and satellite athletic training facilities, administers drug testing, mentors graduate and undergraduate student athletic trainers, and maintains athletic training equipment. The Associate Director assists the Assistant Athletics Director with the coordination of daily operations of the Sports Medicine department. The position oversees and supervises graduate assistants and interns and is responsible for hiring, training, and disciplinary issues. The incumbent oversees insurance and injury tracking programs and assists with scheduling, nutrition and mental health programming for student-athletes. The Associate Director oversees facilities and maintenance of all Sports Medicine equipment and physical therapy pools. The Sports Medicine department medical decisions and actions are under the supervision of the team physicians.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree and one year related work experience for Athletic Trainer/Assistant Director.
  • Master’s Degree and two years of related work experience for Associate Director.
  • Related Experience: Managing or assisting with management of athletic training facilities at the collegiate or professional level working with men’s or women’s sports programs.
