Performs professional work in planning, coordinating, implementing, and supervising youth and adult athletic programs in the Town. An employee in this class plans, coordinates, and implements athletic programs for citizens of the community. Work involves considerable planning and scheduling of activities and for facilities usage, and contact with participants, officiating personnel, coaches, contracted staff, and community groups for assigned sports. Work varies with seasons but includes tasks such as addressing complaints and responding to inquiries; coordinating schedules and needed equipment; creating league practice and game schedules; supervising contracted hourly staff; submitting webpage updates and posting schedules and changes online; coordinating field and facility rentals; and assisting with registration and administrative work at the Community Center. Work is performed in accordance with departmental rules and policies and requires judgmental discretion in the planning and delivery of service. Employees are subject to hazards in parks and recreation including working in both inside and outside environments, in extreme hot and cold weather, and may be subject to regulations on protections from bloodborne pathogens. Work is under the general supervision of the Recreation Program Administrator and is evaluated in terms of program effectiveness, through observation and through discussions surrounding public acceptance.
