Athletic Fields Specialist - Englewood Sports Complex
About The Position
This role is for a Skilled Trades 1 position at Englewood Regional Sports Complex. The position involves the operation of mowing and other various equipment in assigned work areas, performing work on athletic fields and common grounds at park locations throughout the County. Responsibilities include using maintenance equipment and handheld tools to assist co-workers, performing park and athletic field maintenance such as hand weeding, mulching, digging, turf trimming, tree trimming, litter collection, and removal/installation of plant materials and trees. The role also requires safely utilizing gas-powered string trimmers, stick edgers, pole saws, backpack blowers, chain saws, utility carts, and other small landscape maintenance tools. Additionally, the position involves safely operating, fueling, performing general maintenance, changing mower blades, cleaning equipment, performing small-engine repairs, and conducting safety checks on all listed equipment. Assistance with the transportation of equipment and delivery of fuel to various parks is also required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or its equivalent
- Two years of experience
- Valid Florida Driver’s License by date of hire

Responsibilities
- Operation of mowing and other various equipment in assigned work areas.
- Perform work on athletic fields and common grounds at park locations throughout the County.
- Use of other maintenance equipment and handheld tools to assist co-workers in accomplishing daily tasks at various park locations.
- Perform Park and Athletic Field maintenance work, including, but not limited to, other assigned athletic field maintenance, hand weeding, mulching, digging, turf trimming, tree trimming, hand collection and disposal of litter, removal and installation of plant materials and trees.
- Safely utilize gas-powered string trimmers, stick edgers, pole saws, backpack blowers, chain saws, utility carts, and other miscellaneous small hand-operated landscape maintenance tools to perform assigned duties.
- Safely operate, fuel, perform general maintenance, change mower blades, clean equipment, perform small-engine repairs, and perform safety checks on all listed equipment.
- Assist with the transportation of equipment to and from park locations, and delivery of fuel to various parks throughout the south district.
