About The Position

The Athletic Equipment and Facilities Technician is a full-time, non-exempt position responsible for the maintenance, organization, and distribution of athletic equipment, supplies, and fields at Proviso West High School. This role ensures the safety and longevity of equipment, prepares fields for athletic events, and manages inventory. The position operates within the Custodial and Maintenance division and reports to the Custodial and Maintenance Building Lead and the Director of Buildings and Grounds.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Knowledge of safety standards for athletic equipment and field preparation.
• Ability to lift, move, and handle sports equipment safely.
• Effective communication skills with coaches, athletes, and staff.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
• Enter school dude for building repairs and closeout when complete

Nice To Haves

• Experience in athletic equipment or field maintenance preferred.
• Experience with field lining equipment and field maintenance techniques.
• Experience with inventory management systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Receive, inspect, and maintain all athletic equipment, supplies and fields.
• Organize, store, and track inventory using appropriate inventory management systems.
• Distribute equipment to athletes and coaches as needed, ensuring proper fit and condition.
• Repair, clean, and maintain athletic equipment to ensure safety and longevity.
• Assist coaches in preparing equipment for practices, games, and special events.
• Manage the return of equipment at the end of seasons and reconcile inventory records.
• Coordinate with vendors to order new equipment and ensure timely deliveries.
• Train student managers or volunteers on proper equipment handling and safety procedures.
• Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and school policies regarding equipment.
• Line and maintain athletic fields for football, soccer, baseball, and other sports, ensuring proper markings and safety.
• Operate field marking equipment and maintain necessary supplies for field upkeep.
• Collaborate with coaches and athletic staff to schedule and prepare fields for practices and competitions.
• Perform snow removal.
• Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the administration.
