The Athletics department strives to provide an intercollegiate athletics program that is an integral part of the total educational experience at Cal State Fullerton (CSUF), and fits within the overall mission of the University. We seek an exceptional individual to join our team as the Athletic Director (Administrator IV). Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • Five years of successful management, supervision, and leadership experience in athletics.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Experience within a higher education institution of similar size and athletic program.
  • Proven leadership in promoting and marketing athletic programs within a university setting.
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising and implementing revenue-generating activities.
  • Ability to clearly articulate a vision and philosophy regarding the role of intercollegiate athletics in university life.
  • Strong commitment to academic and athletic excellence.
  • Experience in fiscal planning and budget management.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to effectively engage with alumni, faculty, staff, administrators, donors, students, and the broader community.
  • Demonstrated experience in strategic planning and implementation.
  • Demonstrated experience in donor development and fundraising.
  • Expertise in public relations.
  • A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment.
  • Must file an initial “Conflict of Interest Form 700: Statement of Economic Interests” within thirty (30) days from date of hire and on an annual basis.
  • Must complete the CSU sponsored ethics on-line training within thirty (30) days of appointment, and at least once during each consecutive period of two calendar years following the appointment.
  • Must maintain working knowledge of compliance with relevant NCAA and conference rules, and report any concerns or violations noted.
  • Must complete CSA training.

Responsibilities

  • Provides executive leadership to CSUF Titan Athletics coaches and staff who are committed to student-athlete success.
  • Has overall responsibility for the administration and oversight of all CSUF National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division I sports programs.
  • Ensures competitive excellence, academic achievement, fiscal stewardship, regulatory compliance, and the holistic well-being of student-athletes.
  • Leads public relations, development, fundraising, and external relations for Athletics.
  • Aligns Athletics with CSUF’s mission, values, and commitment to equity, inclusion, and ethical leadership.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of compliance with relevant NCAA and conference rules, and report any concerns or violations noted.
  • Is considered a general mandated reporter under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act and must comply with the requirement outlined in CSU Executive Order 1083, revised July 11, 2017.
  • Is responsible for reporting allegations of Clery Act Crimes reported to them or that they witness.
