Requirements

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree in related field with at least 5 years of related experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, organize and administer the school's athletic program.
  • Fulfill educational expectations for male and female athletes by providing a variety of individual and team sports, including adapted sports activities.
  • Assist in the development of rules and regulations, and physical and academic eligibility requirements for the school athletic program and at the district level.
  • Plan and develop the school's athletic budget with input from staff, allocate and adjust fiscal material resources, assure timely completion of reports and contract/pay submittals, and record maintenance for all school programs.
  • Lead hiring of new coaches involving screening, selection, orientation, training, assignment, and reassignment of school staff and coaches.
  • Encourage and promote high standards of conduct, sportsmanship, and scholastic achievement for students participating in athletic program activities.
  • Participate in the development, ongoing improvement, and implementation of the district, school curricular program, activities, and athletic programs.
  • Coordinate the school's extracurricular program and organize athletics contests/games/tournaments as scheduled.
  • Oversee technical applications such as athletics registration, officials scheduling, and website maintenance for all school athletics teams.
  • Oversee evaluation of coaches within SPS evaluation tool and guidelines.
  • Partner in evaluation of school athletics personnel.
  • Promote events and participate in fundraising supports for teams and activities to provide maximum support for all programs, including development of an athletic/activities booster club that supports all.
  • Lead and be responsible for college signing day/commitment day.
  • Lead, direct and encourage coaches and advisors to continue to grow their skills set through organized professional development, in partnership with the SPS Director of Athletics.
  • Ensure all coaches and activity leaders complete both WIAA and District-required training.
  • Successfully establish and grow meaningful relationships and communication with coaches, students, parents, outside athletic directors, and official organizations such as the WIAA.
  • Ensure that the school athletic program complies with GSL, WIAA, Title IX, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, other applicable federal and state laws and regulations, and Department of Education policies and regulations.
  • Interpret and implement board policies and administrative regulations related to athletic and activities program.
  • Work collaboratively with other administrators, coaches, and athletic directors – advise area directors, SPS Director of Athletics, and other appropriate district supervisors of progress, problems, and other information regarding the school's program.
  • Establish a school climate which promotes equal opportunities for students, good conduct, and positive attitudes and values, and accept responsibility for the attendance, conduct, health, and safety of students.
  • Assist in overseeing school leadership and staff connected to clubs and activities.
