About The Position

The Athletic Communications Graduate Assistant primarily facilitates the execution of home sporting events, including regular season contests and Crossroads League/NAIA Championship events. The Graduate Assistant will be involved in the daily functions of a Top 5 NAIA athletic department and will have the opportunity to learn multiple aspects of athletic communications. This position requires a willingness to work a demanding fluid schedule, including nights and weekends.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and acceptance into the master’s program is required for the Graduate Assistant role
Previous experience as a writer, journalist, yearbook editor, or similar
Video filming and editing experience
Adobe Creative Suite software experience
Presto Stats software experience

Responsibilities

Assist in coverage of all IWU Athletic teams. Specific sport assignment of 6 teams
Assist in coordination and implementation of the department’s social media outreach plan
Manage and post athletic event components such as pregame, in-game, and post-game
Create monthly student/coaches features to highlight the mission of IWU Athletics
Assist in oversight and development of gameday student staff that help with social media, scorer’s table, stats, announcing, broadcasting, photography, videography
Handle record book management and continually work to catalog all aspects of Athletics Communications, utilizing digital archiving procedures that include website and cloud technology
Manage storage/library of annual files, photographs, miscellaneous awards, and videography
Write and edit various communication materials, weekly previews, game recaps, game notes and sport-specific content for the department’s website
Develop and manage the IWU Athletics website while helping in the maintaining accurate, up-to-date, and timely content and news dissemination (including all aspects of the website such as rosters, schedules, biographies, results, and assisting in website management)
