Graduate Assistant - Athletic Communication

About The Position

This position will assist in coordinating publicity efforts for all 22 of Concordia Chicago sports. Responsibilities include managing in-game and historical statistics, preparing and disseminating information to the media, and promoting student-athletes and coaches for awards. The role also involves assisting with interns and student workers, maintaining the athletic website, participating in social media strategy, helping with digital content creation, and setting up live streaming software. The assistant will also serve as the official statistician and/or broadcaster for at least one team per season. Other duties will be assigned by athletic department leadership.

Requirements

  • Experience working in a collegiate or professional athletic communications office.
  • Experience with in-game statistical software (Genius & Presto/StatCrew).
  • Experience with new media applications (Instagram, X, etc.).
  • Proficiency in basic computer applications.
  • Bachelor's degree required.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency in writing and interviewing.
  • Knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Premiere Pro and Photoshop.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of publicity efforts for all 22 of Concordia Chicago sports, including in-game and historical statistics, preparation and dissemination of information to the media, and promotion of student-athletes and coaches for awards.
  • Assist with interns and student workers, including scheduling student workers.
  • Maintain the athletic website with pre and post-game stories, stats, and records.
  • Participate in the creation and implementation of department social media strategy and campaigns.
  • Maintain historical records and archives to produce content on alumni and past teams.
  • Assist with digital creation for teams, including recruit photoshoots, media day photoshoots, and editing/creating graphics.
  • Help to set up and start live streaming software and in-game production.
  • Serve as the official statistician and/or broadcaster for at least one team per season.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Communications Director, Assistant Athletic Communications Director, Director of Athletics, or Assistant Director of Athletics.
