About The Position

CLA is seeking an Assurance Principal to join one of its Northeast offices. The role contributes at the highest level in its industry and emphasizes client advisory, service advocacy, relationship development, and leadership. The Principal manages client relationships and assumes responsibility for services across a book of business, while guiding and reviewing client engagements from planning through completion. The role also supports nonprofit clients in obtaining funding and meeting audit and financial planning objectives, and leads staff development, mentoring, and engagement teams.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
At least 8 years of public accounting experience, with emphasis on financial statement preparation and audits.
CPA license required.

Responsibilities

Manage and develop relationships with clients.
Assume full responsibility for all services for clients in a book of business.
Review and sign engagement letters, discuss the nature and terms of assignments with clients and staff, and approve fees.
Review and approve work papers prepared by staff.
Periodically review engagement progress to ensure all phases are being carried out properly.
Review time budgets and deadlines, provide ongoing attention to client management, and attend final client meetings.
Communicate with managers and staff regarding engagement status, client problems, findings, and recommendations.
Assist clients in obtaining necessary funding to continue positively impacting their communities.
Assist clients with meeting audit and financial planning objectives using a range of tools.
Support staff development and mentoring, and oversee client engagement teams.
Lead engagement progress by monitoring time budgets and deadlines for adherence.
