Hi there, Faulk & Winkler is hiring an Assurance Manager with an interest in the governmental sector to join our growing team and help support the delivery of governmental audit engagements and lead the audit team in delivering high quality service. As an Assurance Manager at Faulk & Winkler, you will play a key role in supporting assurance services by overseeing client onboarding, engagement coordination, and operational workflows. You will serve as a central point of coordination between prospective clients, existing clients, and internal assurance teams to ensure engagements are delivered efficiently, consistently, and with care. Your work will provide value to our clients by creating structure and clarity behind the scenes, supporting assurance teams with strong operational execution, and helping ensure clients receive a seamless, professional experience from onboarding through engagement completion.

Requirements

  • 8-10 years of public accounting experience or relevant internship experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • Active CPA license
  • Interest in governmental accounting and assurance services
  • Desire to partner with local governments and community organizations to help them navigate challenges, strengthen operations, and achieve their goals.
  • Committed to seeing tasks through to completion.
  • Ability to work independently on challenging projects and committed to seeing projects and tasks through to completion.
  • Intellectually curious and open to improving processes, learning new tools, and adapting to multiple software applications.
  • Ability to think critically and apply sound judgment to work, understand the “why” behind procedures, and help identify practical approaches to completing tasks.
  • Responsive and reliable.
  • Personable.
  • A bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • An active CPA license
  • Experience in assurance services, accounting firms, financial services, or professional services operations
  • A strong understanding of financial documentation and assurance workflows
  • Experience with client onboarding, engagement coordination, or operational/project management
  • Strong organizational, communication, and quality control skills
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, professional environment
  • 8-10 years of experience in assurance services, preferably governmental

Responsibilities

  • Plan, manage, and oversee audit and assurance engagements for governmental entities, ensuring compliance with applicable auditing standards, Government Auditing Standards, Uniform Guidance requirements, and other relevant regulations.
  • Coordinate engagement activities, monitor progress, and ensure high-quality service delivery while meeting client and firm expectations.
  • Direct the execution of audit procedures, review workpapers and deliverables, assess engagement risks, and resolve complex accounting and auditing matters.
  • Provide guidance to engagement teams, ensure adherence to professional standards, and maintain the quality and efficiency of engagements from planning through completion.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with governmental clients, serving as a primary point of contact throughout the engagement process.
  • Provide proactive guidance, communicate findings and recommendations, help clients navigate operational and regulatory challenges, and support them in achieving their strategic and financial objectives.
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor staff and senior associates, providing technical guidance, performance feedback, and professional development opportunities.
  • Foster a collaborative team environment and support the growth of future leaders within the governmental assurance practice.
  • Identify opportunities to expand client services, participate in networking and business development activities, contribute to proposals and presentations, and help strengthen the firm's presence within the governmental sector and local communities.
