About The Position

HBK is seeking an Assurance Associate to join its team. The firm describes its work as supporting entrepreneurs, high-net-worth individuals, and owners of small and mid-size businesses. The position is intended for a candidate who can start full-time in January 2027. The associate will develop an understanding of clients, their businesses and industries, accounting and control systems, and relevant industry-related GAAP and GAAS issues. The role also involves learning the firm’s audit approach and tools, assessing risks and internal controls, carrying out audit testing, resolving accounting or reporting issues, and drafting financial statements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting.
• Working toward CPA.
• Team player with the ability to work well in a group.
• Detail- and task-oriented.
• Adequate research and writing skills.
• Excellent verbal communication and presentation skills.
• Ability to interact with all levels of staff and clients.
• Competent working knowledge of accounting and audit software.
• Proficient in QuickBooks.

Nice To Haves

• Previous public accounting experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Understand clients’ needs and expectations, businesses and industries, accounting and control systems, employees, company values, and industry-related GAAP and GAAS issues.
• Develop an understanding of the audit approach and tools.
• Assess risks and evaluate clients’ internal control structures.
• Perform analytics, substantive tests, and tests of internal controls to identify and resolve accounting or reporting issues.
• Draft financial statements.
