About The Position

This position assists the head men's basketball coach with all aspects of the program, including recruiting, scouting, coaching, and counseling. Key responsibilities involve coordinating recruiting efforts by identifying, evaluating, and making initial contact with potential recruits, maintaining detailed records of all recruiting contacts, and assisting signees with enrollment needs such as transcripts, class scheduling, and housing assignments. The role also requires coordinating the scheduling of opponents and making travel arrangements for away games, as well as assisting with opponents' practices in the FHU gymnasium. The Assistant Coach will communicate with players' teachers and student services regarding class and chapel absences and academic progress. Additionally, the position involves writing player and program information for the athletics website and annual media guides, assisting the head coach with practice and game preparation, strategy, and scouting opponents (including video exchange), coordinating and organizing all program equipment (practice and game uniforms, balls, and other equipment), and assisting with the organization and administration of summer camps.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate program’s recruiting efforts by identifying and evaluating prospects, making initial contact with potential recruits, and selling the school and program to recruits.
  • Maintain records of all recruiting contacts and keep head coach informed of recruiting efforts.
  • Make regular contact with signees and assist with needs for enrollment into school such as transcripts, class scheduling and housing assignments.
  • Coordinate locating and scheduling of opponents, make travel arrangements for away games. Scheduling and assistance for opponents’ practices in FHU gymnasium and possible travel.
  • Communicate with players’ teachers and with student services regarding class, chapel absences and academic progress.
  • Write player and program information for publication on athletics web site and in annual media guides. (Assist Sports Information Director)
  • Assist head coach in practice and practice preparation, game preparation and strategy, and scouting opponents, including video exchange.
  • Coordinate and organize equipment used and needed for the program. (Practice & Game Uniforms, balls and other equipment)
  • Assist with organization and administration of summer camps.
