About The Position

The mission of Princeton University Department of Athletics is to strive for excellence in academics and athletics, while embracing equity in opportunity, good sportsmanship, and ethical conduct. In keeping with this mission, the role of the Men's Basketball Assistant Coach is to assist in providing a quality varsity program that will challenge and develop the physical, mental and personal abilities of student-athletes of a Division I program.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent coaching experience.
  • Adhere to Ivy League, ECAC and NCAA rules and regulations.
  • Work within the framework of the Department of Athletics administration and coaches.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • First Aid, AED, and CPR certification within four months of hire.
  • Proficient with MS office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Successful background in coaching, preferably at the collegiate level.
  • Valid Driver’s License Required

Nice To Haves

  • Collegiate basketball experience preferred.
  • Previous recruiting experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the planning and execution of all practices.
  • Assist with technology and data use for player development and strategic decision making.
  • Assist with scouting reports of opponents.
  • Assist the coaching staff with in the recruitment of top basketball student-athletes of high moral character who demonstrate the desire to excel in academics and athletics.
  • At the instruction of the recruiting coordinator, attend evaluation sites to assist in identifying talent.
  • Travel to contests/tournaments to evaluate prospects.
  • Assist with prospect camps on and off campus, and making home/school visits as necessary.
  • Maintain compliance with NCAA and Ivy League legislation.
  • At the direction of the Head Coach and Associate Head Coach, the assistant coach will be responsible for a wide variety of administrative tasks including but not limited to equipment and apparel organization, CARA logs, calendar management, recruiting logs, and other various reports for NCAA and Ivy League compliance related issues.
  • Work within the framework of the Department of Athletics administration and coaches.
  • Communicate effectively with students, faculty, administration, staff and alumni.
  • Ability to uphold the commitment to Department of Athletics mission of Education Through Athletics.
  • Other duties as assigned.
