About The Position

Reporting to the Head Coach, the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach plays an integral role in advancing a competitive, student-centered Division I program at the University of Wisconsin–Green Bay. This position supports all facets of program operations, including delivering high-impact coaching and technical instruction; planning and leading in-season and out-of-season practices; scouting opponents; and identifying, recruiting, and developing student-athletes who excel both on the court and in the classroom. In alignment with UW-Green Bay’s mission to enrich, engage, and inspire learners and communities, the Assistant Coach helps foster academic success, ethical conduct, and personal growth, while ensuring full compliance with NCAA, Horizon League, and university standards. The Assistant Coach contributes to a culture that reflects UW-Green Bay’s strategic priorities—student success, inclusive access, and regional engagement—by building strong relationships across campus and beyond. Responsibilities include assisting with recruiting strategy and game preparation, coordinating alumni and donor engagement, and supporting special events that strengthen program visibility and community pride. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree at time of application
  • 3 years coaching experience at the collegiate level
  • Working knowledge of NCAA and/or Horizon League rules and regulations
  • Must be able to work cooperatively with others and take direction from supervisor and Director Athletics and/or his/her designee

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise and utilize sound coaching methods aimed to improve the performance of student athletes include academics
  • Assist with monitoring of student athlete academics
  • Assist with planning and supervision of in-season and out-of-season practice sessions; team and individual practices
  • Assist with scouting of opponents, recruiting and creation of meeting entry line-ups for each competition in accordance with the rules and regulations of the NCAA, Horizon League and UW-Green Bay.
  • Coordinate alumni and donor communication and help with golf tournament and special events as directed by head coach and AD.
  • Maintain effective interpersonal relationships with administration, faculty, staff and student-athletes and display professional sportsmanlike conduct during athletic events.
