This role involves performing major and minor mechanical repairs on a variety of gasoline, diesel, and electronic powered equipment. The position also includes inventorying parts and supplies, equipment maintenance and servicing, and related duties as required. The job is divided into two main areas of work: Mechanic and Course Maintenance Tech. As a Mechanic, responsibilities include inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing defects in golf course maintenance and construction equipment, keeping repair records, instructing operators on equipment use and servicing, grinding and adjusting mowers, maintaining shop equipment and tools, performing welding, inventorying parts, making field repairs, maintaining a preventative maintenance program, potentially doing body and paint work, keeping the shop orderly, testing repaired equipment, troubleshooting hydraulic problems, prioritizing safety procedures, and communicating effectively with the Equipment Manager and Golf Course Superintendent. As a Course Maintenance Tech, responsibilities include operating golf course maintenance equipment, washing equipment after use, inspecting equipment periodically, understanding correct cutting heights, exercising proper etiquette around members and guests, servicing and maintaining equipment per schedule, reporting turf or landscape problems, ensuring reels are cutting properly, maintaining and operating equipment safely and efficiently, reporting malfunctions, checking fuel and oil levels, fueling equipment after use, and using appropriate safety equipment.
