About The Position

Orangeburg Country Club is an 18-hole club with a full scale of amenities. In addition to the course, OCC has a full-service restaurant, four tennis and pickleball courts, and a pool area. We are looking for a Mechanic who is highly motivated and can work independently to ensure that our golf course maintenance equipment is kept in peak condition to minimize downtime due to repairs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2–5 years of experience in small engine, automotive, or turf equipment repair.
  • Proficiency with reel mowers (Toro) hydraulic systems, and welding.
  • Ability to inspect work for quality and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperate effectively with others.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Ability to lift up to 50–100 lbs, bend, stoop, climb, work on and under equipment, and work in varied weather conditions.
  • Valid driver's license
  • Ability to pass background and drug screen
  • Ability to work weekends

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience as a golf course mechanic is preferred.
  • Vocational training in mechanics is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine maintenance such as changing oil, greasing, and inspecting equipment to prevent downtime.
  • Diagnose and repairs diesel, gas, and electric engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
  • Grind reels, set bedknives, and adjust cutting tolerances for a high-quality cut.
  • Maintain detailed records of repairs, maintenance, and parts inventory.
  • Ensure all machinery meets OSHA safety guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized maintenance shop.
  • Sharpen blades, set up new equipment, and occasionally train operators on proper machine use.
