About The Position

This position will report directly to the Agricultural Division President and is made with the expectation of growing into the General Manager position. The role involves managing all labor and production people at the Biehle and McBride locations, with McBride being a harvest-only facility. Responsibilities include managing the logistics and grading aspects of fescue buying operations, both locally and remotely. The position will also assist Sales and Nutrition Managers with employee support for sales, delivery, and quality control efforts, managing the labor required for these functions. A key aspect of the role is developing expertise in grain merchandising and coordinating the implementation of a customer contact program focused on Target Contract Offers and basic grain origination. Active participation in weekly grain marketing meetings and engaging with customers on grain origination is expected. The role also coordinates and manages feed milling, grain handling, small package production, and seed processing, with a focus on improving pellet quality, overall product quality, and grain quality. Responsibility for the Division Safety Program and facilitating communication with Corporate Safety and Loss Prevention Staff is included. The Grain Operations and Maintenance Operations Manager will report directly to this position. The role is responsible for developing operational excellence in efficiency and quality control throughout the Division. Direct supervision of all Biehle employees, excluding Maintenance staff, is required, with the Maintenance Operations Manager reporting to this role. The position will promote sales efforts in Agronomy, Grain Merchandising, Grass Seed, Animal Feeds, Veterinary Supplies, and Retail Store Support. Strategic plans for the Agricultural Division's growth will be prepared in cooperation with the President and Executive Vice-President. The role assists in harvest workload and is directly responsible for the quality and condition of all grains, grass seeds, products, and feed ingredients. Visibility and additional hours will be required during harvest times.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all labor and production people at the Biehle and McBride locations.
  • Manage the logistics and grading piece of fescue buying operations, both locally and remote.
  • Assist the Sales and Nutrition Manager(s) with employee support in their sales, delivery and quality control efforts.

  • Conduct necessary safety meetings and ensure all Ag Division Employees have access to Safety Videos and Safety Training Information.
  • Continue to develop operational excellence in the areas of efficiency and quality control throughout the Division.
  • Directly supervise the activities of all Biehle employees with the exception of the Maintenance staff.
  • Promote sales efforts in the areas of Agronomy, Grain Merchandising, Grass Seed, Animal Feeds, Veterinary Supplies and Retail Store Support.
  • Prepare overall strategic plans for growth of the Agricultural Division in cooperation with the President and Executive Vice-President of the Division.
  • Assist in the harvest workload and be directly responsible for the quality and condition of all grains, grass seeds, products and feed ingredients.
