About The Position

The Assistant Manager, Security & Transportation supports the daily security, transportation, and parking operations for Vinik Sports Group. This role assists in leading Event Security and Transportation/Parking staff, ensuring safe, efficient event operations and exceptional guest service. Working closely with the Director of Security & Transportation and other department leaders, the Assistant Manager helps oversee staff deployment, training, equipment readiness, policy enforcement, and event-day operations across all venues. The ideal candidate is a strong leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment, exercises sound judgment, and maintains flexibility to support events on evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience in security, public safety, event operations, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years of experience in event security, venue operations, transportation, parking management, or a related operational environment, preferably within sports and entertainment venues, arenas, stadiums, convention centers, or large public assembly facilities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with employees, guests, vendors, public safety partners, and senior leadership.
  • Experience preparing, reviewing, and ensuring the accuracy of incident reports, operational reports, and other business-related documentation.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, remain calm under pressure, and effectively de-escalate volatile or sensitive situations.
  • Experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, cultures, and socioeconomic groups, with a commitment to providing exceptional guest service and promoting an inclusive environment.
  • Strong customer service, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make timely decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail and operational excellence.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record preferred.
  • Ability to work efficiently and effectively in office and arena environment that can be exciting, loud and distracting
  • Ability to work extended hours including late nights, holidays, and weekends as needed
  • Ability to work prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to lift/carry/move up to 50lbs
  • Ability to work in cold/hot indoor and outdoor temperatures
  • Ability to commute to various venues throughout the Greater Tampa Bay Area
  • Ability to work in areas that can become crowded with equipment and/or people
  • Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time, walk long distances and climb stairs.
  • Ability to work comfortable around special effects including, but not limited to: haze, strobe lights, lasers, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • CPR, AED, First Aid, FEMA ICS, ASP, or other security-related certifications are preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge of ABIMM preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support the daily management and execution of security, transportation, and parking operations for assigned events and venues.
  • Assist with the supervision, deployment, and direction of Security & Transportation supervisors and staff to ensure efficient operations and appropriate staffing levels.
  • Monitor and adjust staffing assignments, deployments, and field operations to address operational needs and ensure effective coverage.
  • Ensure compliance with all venue policies, procedures, safety standards, and security protocols.
  • Deliver and promote exceptional guest service by addressing guest concerns, resolving issues, and fostering a positive event experience.
  • Serve as a visible leadership presence throughout events, interacting professionally with guests, employees, vendors, and external partners.
  • Assist with the preparation and distribution of event staffing plans, deployment sheets, and operational documentation.
  • Oversee the setup, operation, and readiness of security screening equipment, including Evolv systems, magnetometers, and X-ray scanners.
  • Participate in pre-event planning meetings, staff briefings, and post-event debriefs to support continuous operational improvement.
  • Monitor the condition, inventory, and functionality of departmental equipment, uniforms, nametags, and operational supplies.
  • Assist in overseeing transportation and parking operations, including employee parking facilities and event parking lots.
  • Review and ensure the accuracy of incident reports, supervisor reports, post-event reports, and other operational documentation.
  • Utilize and enforce effective radio communication procedures to maintain coordination and situational awareness during events.
  • Support the recruitment, onboarding, training, scheduling, and performance management of Security & Transportation team members.
  • Assign and oversee on-the-job training for new employees to ensure compliance with operational standards and service expectations.
  • Maintain composure and make sound operational decisions in fast-paced, high-pressure, and emergency situations.
  • Support leadership in addressing employee performance, attendance, conduct, and corrective action matters as needed.
  • Collaborate with multiple internal departments to ensure seamless event execution and operational excellence.
  • Maintain flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and special events across all venues.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
