About The Position

Parthenon Management Group (PMG) is an association management company providing management services to professional and trade associations. The Association Manager supports PMG’s goals, values, and philosophy by demonstrating excellence, quality service, commitment, and accountability. This role involves high-level administrative and management duties to provide association management services to professional societies managed by PMG. The Association Manager is the primary management leader, responsible for overseeing administration, annual meetings, programs, and strategic plans. Key duties include financial oversight, fundraising, community outreach, problem-solving, and strategizing to achieve organizational goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year university or equivalent experience.
  • Transparent and high integrity leadership.
  • Budget management skills, including preparation, analysis, decision-making, and reporting.
  • Strong organizational abilities including planning, delegating, program development, and task facilitation.
  • Ability to convey a vision of the organization’s strategic future to staff, board, volunteers, and donors.
  • Knowledge of fundraising strategies and donor relations unique to the nonprofit sector.
  • Skills to collaborate with and motivate board members and other volunteers.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee, train, and collaborate with staff.
  • Detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Mastery knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word and Excel strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Works with the Board of Directors and Committees to fulfill the organization's mission.
  • Leads the society in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors and aligns with the strategic plan in collaboration with Parthenon Management Group.
  • Communicates effectively with the Board of Directors, providing timely and accurate information for informed decisions.
  • Oversees strategic planning, implementation, and reporting.
  • Organizes Board and committee meetings, including scribing discussion overviews and preparing official minutes.
  • Prepares a summary of action items following each meeting and follows up with responsible parties.
  • Maintains a tracking and reporting system for the society's plans of work, actions, and accomplishments.
  • Develops resources to ensure the financial health of the organization.
  • Responsible for the fiscal integrity of the society, including budget submission and monthly financial statements.
  • Operates within the approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization, and maintains a positive financial position.
  • Assists with fundraising and developing other resources to support the society's mission.
  • Reconciles the cash flow of the society monthly and stays abreast of financial trends and needs.
  • Works with the board to ensure the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning, and community outreach.
  • Oversees the organization of the Annual Meeting and other meetings.
  • Collaborates with the organization’s Program Committee and PMG Meeting Content Department to develop the scientific program.
  • Reviews and obtains approval for Annual Meeting and other meeting budgets.
  • Supports CEO, Senior Association Leaders, and Directors of Association Management with special projects.
  • Assists in the training and mentoring of new staff.
  • Cultivates a positive workplace culture, utilizing employee strengths.
  • Leads and/or participates in strategic plan focus groups.
  • Provides assistance and training to Association Coordinators and other new Association Managers.
  • Supervises assigned Association Coordinators.
