Institutional Equity Division – Associate, Morgan Stanley Electronic Trading Night Coverage (New York)
About The Position
Morgan Stanley is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Associate to join the Morgan Stanley Electronic Trading (MSET) Night Coverage team. The role provides overnight trading coverage on a Sunday through Friday schedule from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. ET, aligned with Asia market hours rather than a traditional U.S. workday. The Associate oversees execution and monitoring, manages risk, analyzes performance, and makes real-time decisions to support high-quality client outcomes within a strong risk and control environment. MSET provides clients with access to global markets, electronic execution, and trading technology solutions. The role works alongside professionals across Trading, Sales, Technology, Quantitative Research, and Product Management. It offers exposure to U.S. equities, futures, options, market structure, electronic execution, and risk management, with opportunities for professional development and career growth.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of experience on an execution desk, electronic trading desk, sales trading desk, or in a related role.
- Ability and willingness to work overnight trading coverage aligned with Asia market hours.
- Strong understanding of electronic trading and market structure, with familiarity with futures and options markets.
- Analytical mindset, exceptional attention to detail, strong risk awareness, sound judgment, and demonstrated ability to perform in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong trading judgment and a solid analytical foundation.
- Ability to work independently with a strong work ethic; disciplined, self-motivated, and able to maintain focus and sound judgment throughout the trading session.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and oversee execution of client orders across U.S. equities, futures, and options while actively managing trading, market, and operational risk.
- Continuously monitor market conditions, liquidity, and platform performance, and exercise judgment when issues require escalation or intervention.
- Analyze execution quality and trading performance, identify process improvement opportunities, and provide clear handoff summaries to the day trading team.
