About The Position

Under the direction of the Director of Wellness, and under the guidance of the Associate Executive Director, the Associate Wellness Director will supervise the development and implementation of designated wellness programs of the YMCA. This position is primarily responsible for working with our staff, our members and program participants on the front line (approximately 80% time spent in frontline duties and 20% in coordination/ administrative duties). Also included is the daily supervision of Wellness staff to ensure proper training, consistent coverage of programs, and excellent member service.

Requirements

BA/BS degree in Wellness, Exercise Science, Health/Physical Education or a related field, or its equivalent in experience.
2-3 years experience in YMCA/similar agency.
Strong commitment to the YMCA philosophy and values.
Certified in personal training (ACSM, NSCA, ACE, other approved national certification).
Well-defined administration skills.
Proven abilities in personnel management (hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating).
Proven abilities in program planning.
Proven abilities in budget management.
Proven abilities in conflict resolution.
Proven abilities in public relations.
Proven abilities in record-keeping.
Proven abilities in facility utilization, maintenance and care.
Leadership style that is team-oriented.
Continual pursuit of further education in the areas of exercise science, wellness, supervision, and member service.

Nice To Haves

National group exercise certification or related experience in the areas of group exercise class instruction.
