About The Position

The TODAY Digital team is a hub of creativity, collaboration and innovation, creating compelling video content for millions of viewers across platforms. We’re looking for a talented, versatile and highly organized Associate Video Editor to join our team. This role will work closely with producers, editors and other members of the TODAY and NBC News teams to edit, organize and deliver video content across TODAY’s digital, streaming and social platforms.
This position is represented by the News Guild – NY CWA.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of professional video editing or production experience in a fast-paced environment; experience in news, entertainment, digital media or a related field preferred.
• Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro required; working knowledge of the broader Adobe Creative Suite preferred.
• Working knowledge of AVID Media Composer required.
• Strong editorial instincts and an understanding of visual storytelling, pacing and what makes video compelling across different platforms.
• Familiarity with social-first video and vertical formats, including content created for platforms such as Instagram, TikTok and YouTube.
• Working knowledge of common video formats, codecs and post-production workflows.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented, with the ability to maintain clean project files and manage large volumes of media.
• Self-motivated and able to work efficiently under tight deadlines.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills.
• Comfortable receiving feedback and quickly incorporating notes into edits.
• Familiarity with TODAY, NBC News and the broader NBCUniversal portfolio, including an understanding of TODAY’s voice, audience and visual aesthetic.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with producers and editors from TODAY Digital on the acquisition, selection, editing, publishing and distribution of live and on-demand video content.
• Monitor incoming feeds of NBC broadcasts to clip, edit and publish video from the TODAY broadcast for digital and streaming platforms.
• Set up and organize video projects, including: Ingesting and organizing media and project assets, Syncing multiple cameras and audio sources, Pulling selects and creating stringouts, Assembling rough cuts, Selecting music and other creative elements as needed.
• Maintain organized project files and manage media and metadata on production servers.
• Work closely with producers to traffic broadcast deliverables, social deliverables, audio deliverables, and more to ensure projects are accurate, properly formatted and delivered on deadline.
• Work with producers to shape edits, incorporate feedback and take projects from initial assembly through final delivery.
• Wrap completed projects and prepare files and media for archive.
• Manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously in a fast-paced news and production environment.
