About The Position

Everett Community College is seeking a strategic, collaborative leader to serve as Associate Vice President of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility. Reporting to the President and serving on the executive leadership team, the AVP will lead a College-wide approach to advancing educational equity, accessibility, belonging, and student success. This role will translate institutional commitments into clear strategy, measurable goals, stronger policies, and sustained action. The AVP will use disaggregated data to identify opportunity gaps and evaluate progress, advise leaders on complex and sensitive issues, and build trust across students, employees, labor partners, and community partners. The position leads Equity and Social Justice programs and oversees the Center for Disability Services. We are seeking a visible, thoughtful change leader who brings cultural humility, sound judgment, transparent communication, and the ability to unite people around accountable progress.

Requirements

Master's degree in education, public administration, organizational leadership, social sciences, student development, or a related field and three (3) years of progressively responsible leadership experience implementing equity, diversity, inclusion, accessibility, or related institutional strategies; OR a bachelor's degree in a related field and five (5) years of qualifying leadership experience.
Three (3) years of supervisory experience, including responsibility for employee development, performance management, budgets, and operations.
Experience leading organizational change, strategic planning, policy review, program development and evaluation, and data-informed accountability in higher education, public service, nonprofit, or another complex organization.
Knowledge of equity, inclusion, accessibility, belonging, and educational justice principles and the systemic barriers that affect student and employee outcomes.
Knowledge of federal and Washington laws, regulations, and public-policy issues related to civil rights, nondiscrimination, and accessibility in education and employment.
Skilled in strategic planning, policy analysis, program evaluation, and the use of disaggregated data to identify disparities and guide action.
Skilled in leading organizational change, building coalitions, and facilitating productive dialogue across communities with differing needs and perspectives.
Ability to advise executive leaders, communicate complex or sensitive matters clearly and transparently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain confidentiality.
Ability to lead people, budgets, and multiple programs while collaborating across shared-governance structures, employee groups, and organizational boundaries.
Ability to operate office equipment, including computers and telecommunication devices.
Ability to observe, analyze, and interpret data from various sources.
Ability to prepare and present detailed reports, both in written and audible formats.
Ability to exchange information with others.
Ability to sit or stand for extended periods while performing routine tasks.
Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 pounds.
Ability to navigate the environments, conditions, and hazards typical of this role.

Nice To Haves

Doctoral or other terminal degree in education, organizational leadership, student development, social sciences, or a related field.
Leadership experience in a community college or other higher-education setting involving student success, equitable teaching and learning, or institutional effectiveness.
Experience developing and facilitating professional learning on IDEA topics and influencing community, government, or statewide partners.

Responsibilities

Lead the development, implementation, evaluation, and regular refinement of a College-wide equity strategic plan consistent with the College's mission and strategic priorities.
Establish institutional IDEA goals and measures; use disaggregated quantitative and qualitative data to identify opportunity gaps, assess campus climate, monitor outcomes, and communicate progress.
Review and recommend changes to policies, procedures, practices, and resource allocation to remove barriers, meet legal and regulatory obligations, and advance equitable outcomes.
Advise, and partner with, the President and executive leadership on IDEA strategy, accessibility, institutional climate, emerging legislation, risks, and opportunities.
Provide leadership to shared governance bodies and intra-College work groups related to equity, accessibility, and shared identity, collaborating with students, employees, and labor partners.
Regularly share, publicly, information regarding institutional IDEA priorities, actions, progress, and outcomes to the campus community through clear and transparent communication.
Cultivate a campus culture of agency, belonging, trust, respect, and social justice through sustained engagement with students, faculty, staff, and College leaders.
Lead and coordinate professional learning that strengthens institutional understanding of discrimination, bias, power, privilege, cultural humility, accessibility, and inclusive practice.
Partner with Academic Affairs, Strategic Enrollment Management & Student Success, Human Resources, and operational units to advance equitable teaching and learning, accessible content and experiences, and inclusive recruitment and retention practices.
Serve as a subject matter expert and trusted resource on IDEA principles, inclusive communication, organizational change, and complex or sensitive institutional issues.
Develop partnerships with community organizations, government agencies, and local, state, and national equity networks that support student access, success, and community engagement.
Direct assigned Equity and Social Justice programs and services, including day-to-day supervision of the Equity and Social Justice department, ensuring coordinated planning and effective service.
Oversee the Center for Disability Services, providing guidance and support to the Director and their team.
Supervise, coach, develop, and evaluate assigned classified, professional, faculty, and administrative employees; establish clear expectations and accountability for results.
Develop annual operational plans and administer assigned budgets, authorizing expenditures and recommending resource allocations that support institutional priorities.
Evaluate assigned programs and services through program review, outcomes assessment, and continuous improvement, and address barriers to student and employee success.
Represent the College with the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges, the Diversity and Equity Officers Commission, community partners, and other external organizations on IDEA matters.
Lead institutional projects, committees, and task forces and carry out additional administrative assignments designated by the President.
Support the mission, vision, and values of Everett Community College through courageous and ethical leadership, both College-wide and as a thought leader within the College’s leadership team.
Ensure that strategies supporting student access, success, and completion are appropriately prioritized, supported, and aligned with the College’s mission, vision, and values.
Work as member of the College’s leadership team in support of shared goals across the institution, regardless of administrative unit, making generous assumptions and conducting open-minded analyses of situations that can assist all parties in learning from failures and creating successes.
