Requirements

  • Bachelors degree.
  • Strong analytical and technical experience.
  • Experience in analyzing, making recommendations, and presenting said recommendations on complex fiscal situations to those without a financial background.
  • Demonstrated strong analytical and technical capabilities.
  • Ability to thrive under pressure.
  • Ability to effectively manage shifting priorities and requirements.
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Masters Degree.
  • Extensive supervisory experience within State or Federal Government.
  • Similar experience within health care, community colleges, and/or four-year institutions.
  • Business Intelligence / Power BI expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and supervise the University-wide Budget Office and System Administration Business Office.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality and easily understood fiscal and operational analysis in partnership with these offices.
  • Serve as a lead in the System Administration Operating Budget process.
  • Ensure the professional development and success of individuals within the overseen portfolios.
  • Work directly with counterparts at individual State-operated campuses, Statutory Colleges, Community Colleges, and program offices to understand and solve issues related to both day-to-day and long-term operations.
  • Perform high-quality and detailed analysis of large data sets related to higher education institutions' operations.
  • Provide actionable recommendations to improve campus fiscal health, operational efficiency, reduce risk, and improve services to students, faculty, and staff.
  • Aid the SUNY University-wide Budget Office and System Administration Business Office in maintaining and increasing the high quality of analytical work.
  • Work closely with departments within System Administration to ensure financial and operational stability and aid in annual financial plan forecasting.
  • Engage in regular review, update, and creation of standard operating procedures, policies, and guidance documents to streamline operations, ensure proper internal controls, and mitigate risk.
  • Work directly with the SUNY Chief Financial Officer as a thought partner in preparing and recommending reviews and recommendations to Senior Leadership, the Chancellor, and Board of Trustees.
  • Work with the SUNY Chief Financial Officer and other specific departments on the development of campus-based tools to support operational stability and excellence, including active management of academic program offerings, employee workforce, capital facilities needs, and promoting shared services opportunities.
  • Present, as needed, in partnership with the SUNY Chief Financial Officer to various associations and divisions on specific financial and administrative items.
