About The Position

Shelby Veterinary Hospital is seeking a compassionate and motivated Associate Veterinarian to join their growing, multi-doctor practice in Shelby Township, Michigan. This position is suitable for both experienced veterinarians and new graduates seeking mentorship. The hospital fosters a collaborative environment where veterinarians can practice high-quality medicine and develop their clinical interests with support from experienced doctors and skilled staff. The role involves providing medical and surgical care, building client relationships, developing treatment plans, performing procedures, and continuing professional development.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree from an accredited veterinary school
  • Licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the State of Michigan
  • DVM/VMD degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
  • Appropriate state licensure.
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Passion for practicing high-quality medicine
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
  • Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
  • Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
  • Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
  • Maintain patients’ medical records.
  • Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.
  • Provide compassionate, high-quality medical and surgical care to companion animals.
  • Build lasting relationships with clients through education and communication.
  • Collaborate with experienced veterinarians and a talented support team.
  • Develop individualized diagnostic and treatment plans.
  • Perform wellness, preventative, medical, and surgical procedures.
  • Continue developing your clinical interests through mentorship and continuing education.
