About The Position

Sunset Coast Veterinary Clinic is seeking an Associate Veterinarian (DVM) to join their compassionate and collaborative team in St. Joseph, Michigan. The clinic is dedicated to providing compassionate care for patients and outstanding service to clients, staying current with the latest treatments and diagnostic technology. They offer a supportive and mentored environment with a positive, family-oriented culture. The clinic has state-of-the-art equipment including a surgical laser, digital x-ray machine, and on-site blood work. An office expansion is planned within the year. The role involves providing comprehensive medical, surgical, and preventative care for companion animals, building client relationships, collaborating with the team, developing diagnostic and treatment plans, and growing clinical and surgical skills.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM/VMD) degree from an accredited veterinary school
Licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the State of Michigan
Passion for practicing high-quality medicine
Excellent communication and teamwork skills
A positive attitude and desire to grow professionally
DVM/VMD degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
Appropriate state licensure.
Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.

Responsibilities

Provide comprehensive medical, surgical, and preventative care for companion animals
Build lasting relationships with clients through education and communication
Collaborate with experienced veterinarians and a dedicated support team
Develop diagnostic and treatment plans tailored to each patient
Continue growing your clinical and surgical skills through mentorship and continuing education
Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
Maintain patients’ medical records.
Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.
