About The Position

Temple Terrace Animal Hospital is hiring a full-time Associate Veterinarian to care for dogs and cats in Tampa, Florida. The AAHA-accredited hospital handles wellness and sick visits, urgent cases—including weekend cases—and surgery, including laparoscopic procedures. The position offers access to ultrasound, endoscopy, digital radiology, and dental radiology, as well as support from a board-certified surgeon and internist. The hospital has a teaching culture that includes journal club and guest speakers, structured mentorship for developing advanced procedures, open-book and open-door management, and an emphasis on psychological safety. The team is bilingual in Spanish and English.

The schedule is 35 scheduled hours per week, arranged as either three 12-hour days or four 10-hour days. Veterinarians work one weekend per month, with one or two doctors scheduled on weekends. Appointments are generally 30 minutes, with an hour for two pets, and include built-in blocks. There is no after-hours emergency duty. Compensation is $100,000–$175,000 under a ProSal plan at 20%, with no negative accrual and quarterly payment. The hospital is part of a 215-person, nine-hospital team.

Requirements

• DVM or equivalent degree.
• Florida veterinary license or eligibility to obtain one.
• Interest in surgery and motivation to continue developing professionally.
• Strong communication skills and composure while managing a full caseload.

Responsibilities

• Provide veterinary care for dogs and cats, including wellness and sick visits.
• Evaluate and treat urgent cases, including cases seen on weekends.
• Perform surgery, including laparoscopic procedures, and dental extractions.
• Continue developing surgical and diagnostic skills, including advanced procedures.
