About The Position

Elyria Animal Hospital is a small companion animal and exotic pet hospital that has proudly served the local community for over 60 years. Our experienced and compassionate team is dedicated to providing high-quality veterinary care in a welcoming and supportive environment. We believe pets are family, and our friendly staff is committed to treating every patient-and every client-with the same care, respect, and kindness we would our own. We are looking to add a fun-loving team member, who is also great at multi-tasking, with aligned values to our own, to our fast-paced and growing animal hospital. This is a full-time position in Elyria, Ohio. The role offers an opportunity to help shape the future of a growing practice, with potential facility improvements including a remodel or new facility. It is suitable for experienced veterinarians seeking a collaborative team or new graduates seeking mentorship.

Requirements

  • DVM/VMD degree from an accredited AVMA institution.
  • Appropriate state licensure.
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
  • Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
  • Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
  • Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
  • Maintain patients’ medical records.
  • Ensures compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statues, policies, and procedures.
