Associate Veterinarian
About The Position
The primary function of the Associate Veterinarian is to provide professional veterinary services in accordance with the policies of the Practice and the highest standards of the veterinary profession. This will include the consultation with animal owners and subsequent diagnosis and implementation of a treatment or surgical protocol, as well as the adequate supervision of lay staff in order to fulfil these obligations. This will include elements of supervision, planning and coordinating efforts of others to ensure that the Hospital remains profitable while ensuring the highest quality veterinary services are provided.
Requirements
- Hold a degree of Doctor of Veterinary Medicine or similar degree from an accredited veterinary school satisfactory for licensing in the province for which they are employed.
Responsibilities
- Consult with animal owners, diagnose conditions, and implement treatment or surgical protocols.
- Adequately supervise lay staff to fulfill obligations.
- Perform all usual functions of a veterinary practitioner.
- Manage client cases, including routine therapeutic procedures and veterinary surgery.
- Maintain patient records.
- Provide post-operative observation.
- Ensure accurate client billing.
- Conduct case reviews with the Medical Director or their designate.
- Maintain professional standards.
- Ensure work is carried out in a safe and effective manner.
- Contribute to a work environment based on mutual trust and respect.
