About The Position

East Lawn Animal Hospital is seeking a full-time Associate Veterinarian, DVM, to join their team in Fort Dodge, Iowa. The hospital has been serving the community for over 40 years, offering high-quality care and compassion. They are equipped with in-house lab, digital x-ray, a complete dental unit, and other tools for practicing advanced medicine. The role involves a broad caseload in a supportive team environment within a practice with deep community roots. The clinic provides full-service care including wellness, preventive medicine, surgery, and dentistry for canine, feline, and exotic patients. Requirements

DVM or upcoming graduate with Iowa licensure or ability to obtain.
Appropriate state licensure.
Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.

Responsibilities

Act as a trusted partner for patients and clients while working across a diverse case mix.
Perform wellness exams, preventive care, surgery, and dental procedures.
Treat a wide range of species, including exotics.
Educate clients on long-term health and care plans.
Collaborate with an experienced, team-oriented staff.
Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
Maintain patients’ medical records.
Ensure compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statutes, policies, and procedures.
