About The Position

East Lawn Animal Hospital is seeking a full-time Associate Veterinarian, DVM, to join their team in Fort Dodge, Iowa. The hospital has been serving the community for over 40 years, offering high-quality care and compassion. They are equipped with in-house lab, digital x-ray, a complete dental unit, and other tools for practicing advanced medicine. The role involves a broad caseload in a supportive team environment within a practice with deep community roots. The clinic provides full-service care including wellness, preventive medicine, surgery, and dentistry for canine, feline, and exotic patients. The environment is collaborative, steady, and focused on quality care and client relationships.

Requirements

  • DVM or upcoming graduate with Iowa licensure or ability to obtain.
  • Appropriate state licensure.
  • Eligibility to obtain DEA/BNDD.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates professional and courteous presentation consistently with staff and clients.
  • Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; ability to lift patients or carry equipment over 25 pounds with assistance.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a trusted partner for patients and clients while working across a diverse case mix.
  • Perform wellness exams, preventive care, surgery, and dental procedures.
  • Treat a wide range of species, including exotics.
  • Educate clients on long-term health and care plans.
  • Collaborate with an experienced, team-oriented staff.
  • Examine and treat companion animals to detect and determine the nature of disease or injuries.
  • Operate diagnostic equipment and collect diagnostic samples as well as interpret results.
  • Advise pet owners on preventative care and treatment options.
  • Perform surgery and prescribe medication as needed.
  • Provide counsel around pet end of life care.
  • Maintain patients’ medical records.
  • Ensure compliance with veterinary ethics and relevant statutes, policies, and procedures.
