This role is hybrid, requiring four days a week in the Great American Tower in Cincinnati and offering the flexibility to work one day remotely. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred.
  • Underwriting assistant or internship experience with an insurance carrier or agency is preferred.
  • Workers' Compensation or Property & Casualty lines experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide customer service and administrative support to the Underwriting department.
  • Gather data from various sources, including clients, for new and renewal business to aid the underwriting decision process.
  • Organize data and provide it to Underwriters to expedite decision-making.
  • Maintain effective business relationships with internal and external customers related to the underwriting process.
  • Perform policy administration tasks within established production and quality guidelines, including reviewing instructions, entering information for quotes, issuances, renewals, audits, endorsements, cancellations, and reinstatements.
  • Enter rate, premium, and policy information into appropriate systems for policy updates/issuance.
  • Maintain file accuracy and completeness.
  • Order, prepare, and update reports (e.g., loss reports, financial reports, loss run requests) and legal notices (e.g., Notice of Cancellation, non-renewal notice).
  • Research and resolve or correct errors and issues.
  • Prepare, assemble, and issue policies, endorsements, and associated documentation.
  • Research and reconcile premium/billing accounting discrepancies.
  • Respond to premium/billing questions.
  • Utilize computerized systems (Excel, Word, legacy systems, internal systems, third-party vendor systems) for research, tracking, information gathering, and troubleshooting.
  • Share routine information via telephone, email, fax, or mail to underwriters, agents, brokers, reinsurers, and insureds, maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Participate in departmental processes and projects, such as system changes, user acceptance testing, and reviewing policy impacts.
  • Act as a liaison with other departments to facilitate interdepartmental communication.
  • May perform other tasks including support, imaging, mail, data entry, agent contracting support, and supply functions.
  • Build working knowledge of policies, procedures, business products, coverages, and the organization.
  • Comply with company and regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
