About The Position

This position supports the JJ Select sales underwriting team by assisting with quoting, preliminary risk reviews, and agent communication for high-value personal lines business. This role focuses on front-end underwriting tasks to support new business production, delivering accurate and timely quotes that align with carrier guidelines and departmental standards. This position does not typically handle renewals or inspection review activities.

Requirements

  • 1 year or less insurance experience, underwriting experience preferred.
  • An RMI degree or CPCU, or PLCS, or CPIW preferred OR 1 to 3 years of experience in P&C Underwriting or related field preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and release new business quotes through online systems such as Utopia, SIRIS, and MARS.
  • Confirm rating eligibility and gather required documents based on carrier guidelines.
  • Update and revise quotes for agents and underwriters as requested.
  • Maintain accurate quoting logs and documentation.
  • Learn quoting guidelines for carriers such as Berkshire, Scottsdale, AIG, Chubb, and Beazley.
  • Access and navigate carrier portals to obtain guidelines, forms, and appetite information.
  • Build proficiency in rate manipulation and quoting workflows.
  • Partner with Sales Underwriters to deliver timely and accurate quote output.
  • Contribute to new business initiatives by assisting with quoting and service needs.
  • Participate in sales meetings and share feedback on market trends and system performance.
  • Communicate professionally with carrier partners to obtain underwriting information.
  • Assist with team initiatives and process improvements.
  • Maintain high accuracy in quotes, documentation, and system entries.
  • Uphold confidentiality and professional communication standards.
  • Participate in structured training to build technical and product expertise.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail in a fast-paced sales environment.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
  • Successfully obtain and maintain a valid producer’s license in your state of residence.
