About The Position

The Associate Therapist provides counseling and mental health support services to individuals, couples, families, and/or groups within a faith-based environment. This role integrates professional therapeutic practices with the mission and values of the church to support emotional, relational, and spiritual well-being. The Associate Therapist collaborates with church leadership, staff, and community resources to provide compassionate care, crisis intervention, assessments, treatment planning, and referrals as needed.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree
  • Registered Associate number through the Board of Behavioral Science
  • Addresses the needs of the marginalized, lonely and forgotten
  • Empathizes with others and expresses love, grace and dignity to those facing hardship and difficulty
  • Focuses on alleviating the sources of pain or discomfort in those who are suffering
  • Demonstrates a willingness to engage and serve in painful, difficult situations
  • Communicates God’s love and hope in the therapeutic setting in clear, tangible ways to those who are suffering
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and alignment with Crossroads ministries and values
  • Is aware of the specific serving opportunities that exist within a ministry and can articulate the core competencies and key behaviors of those opportunities
  • Engages others in a winsome, inviting and engaging manner
  • Listens effectively to determine another’s gifts, skills and passions
  • Discerns potential ministry opportunities that fit the client’s gifts, skills and passions
  • Presents a compelling vision for a ministry opportunity, clearly articulating the ways in which that opportunity advances God’s kingdom
  • Follows up on the ask and provides information, support and prayer throughout the decision-making process
  • Connects the client with ministry team or research/recommends other potential ministry opportunities for the client.

Responsibilities

  • Is available to see up to ten clients per week
  • Will attend the required 1 unit of supervision each week
  • Will keep their Associate number in good standing with the BBS
  • Is responsible for scheduling the clients that are assigned to them
  • Will make initial contact with client within 24-48 hours from being assigned
  • Uses therapy notes for all required client documents and notes
  • Will be responsible for billing each client
  • Will be aware of all ministries in-order to refer clients to ministries for further growth or next steps
  • Reports to the care ministry pastor and will communicate with the pastor of any challenges and/or difficulties
