About The Position

MU Health Care is seeking a personable, proactive Communication Services Associate to provide welcoming, customer-focused support in hospital lobbies or switchboard offices. The role balances visitor assistance, call handling, and monitoring of critical communication, regulatory, and security systems while maintaining confidentiality and a positive attitude. This position is on-site at Capital Region Medical Center in Jefferson City, Missouri, and is scheduled Friday through Sunday, 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.

Requirements

• One year of related, clerical, or customer service experience; education may be used in lieu of experience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain an assigned post in hospital lobbies or switchboard offices; greet visitors and patients, determine their needs, answer questions, provide directions, and assist as needed.
• Answer and direct calls to the health system and hospital emergency response line, send notifications, and respond to alarms and emergency response protocols as required.
• Monitor regulatory and security systems and provide notifications, including for fire alarms, medical gas systems, access intercoms, closed-circuit television, intrusion alarms, and panic/duress alarms.
• Use switchboard equipment efficiently to answer and process calls; accurately document caller names and callback numbers and follow up to ensure necessary action has been taken.
• Complete visitor check-in tasks, vet visitors, issue identification according to visitation policy using computer systems, verify employee, vendor, and visitor badges, and assist vendors as needed.
• Monitor the appearance of the hospital entrance and contact Security, Environmental Services, or Facilities Management when assistance is needed.
• Perform unit- or department-specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.
