Requirements

  • One year of related, clerical, or customer service experience, education may be used in lieu of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain assigned post in hospital lobbies or switchboard offices.
  • Cordially greet visitors and patients.
  • Ascertain patient and/or visitor needs, answer questions, give directions, and/or assist as needed.
  • Answer and direct incoming calls to the health system and to the hospital(s) emergency response line, send notifications, and respond to alarms and emergency response protocol as required.
  • Provide monitoring and notifications related to various regulatory and security systems; including but not limited to, fire alarm, medical gas (oxygen, vacuum, and medical air), access intercom system, closed circuit television, intrusion alarms, panic/duress alarms.
  • Use of switchboard equipment to best advantage to answer and process calls as efficiently as possible.
  • Document calls by recording caller name and call back phone number accurately and completely.
  • Follow up to ensure necessary action has been taken.
  • Perform required tasks related to visitor check in processes.
  • Complete vetting processes and issuance of identification to visitors per visitation policy and utilization of computer systems.
  • Verify employee, vendor, and visitor badges.
  • Assist vendors as needed.
  • Monitors the overall appearance of the hospital entrance.
  • Contacts Security, Environmental Services, or Facilities Management, for assistance when necessary.
  • May complete unit/department specific duties and expectations as outlined in department documents.
