About The Position

White & Case’s Commercial Litigation Practice represents leading global social media and technology companies in high-stakes disputes involving their platforms, products, and business practices. Matters include complex commercial disputes and class actions involving privacy and data protection, consumer protection, platform liability, advertising practices, and emerging technologies such as AI. The associate will focus on litigation in jurisdictions outside the United States, helping develop and execute strategies in foreign courts while working closely with clients and local counsel. The role offers meaningful responsibility from the outset on lean, collaborative teams, including client exposure and opportunities to work with witnesses and experts. Associates will help analyze complex factual and technical issues and prepare disputes for hearings, trial, and appeal.

Requirements

Two to five years of commercial litigation experience at a law firm.
Juris Doctor or equivalent degree.
Admission to the bar in the jurisdiction in which the candidate would practice.
Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
Excellent drafting skills and commitment to factual accuracy, rigorous analysis, and persuasive advocacy.
Experience supporting litigation across multiple stages, including factual investigation, pleadings, substantive briefing, evidence development, and witness preparation.
Ability to synthesize complex legal, factual, and technical issues into clear strategy and practical advice for legal and non-legal client stakeholders.
Strong problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and a pragmatic, commercially minded approach.
Ability to manage multiple matters, prioritize effectively, and remain calm under pressure.
Strong attention to detail, intellectual curiosity, and creativity in addressing novel issues.
Demonstrated initiative, resourcefulness, and ownership, with the ability to work independently and contribute effectively to a close-knit team.
Motivation to develop litigation and trial skills and take advantage of opportunities for increasing responsibility.

Responsibilities

Develop and drive litigation strategy for individual disputes and class actions involving social media, in collaboration with the litigation team, clients, and local counsel.
Take responsibility appropriate to experience for matters from initial assessment and factual investigation through pleadings, motion practice, evidence development, trial preparation, trial, and appeal.
Draft substantive pleadings, briefs, written advocacy, and practical client advice.
Develop factual records, identify evidentiary needs, and translate complex products, technologies, and business practices into compelling litigation narratives.
Work with client fact witnesses to develop testimony and prepare them for examination at hearings or trial.
Work with expert witnesses to develop opinions, reports, and testimony, and assess and challenge opposing expert evidence.
Prepare examination outlines, trial submissions, and other advocacy materials, and work with local counsel on courtroom presentation and execution.
Help clients evaluate litigation exposure, strategic options, and settlement opportunities throughout a matter.
Coordinate effectively with clients and local counsel while taking ownership of work product, deadlines, and case progression.
