About The Position

Kickstart your career at CAE, where you’ll help transform complex engineering concepts into clear, accurate, and professional documentation that supports world-class training systems. As an Associate Technical Writer, you’ll collaborate with engineers, authors, and quality teams to refine technical content, ensure consistency, and publish materials that meet strict standards for clarity, accuracy, and visual effectiveness. You’ll gain hands-on experience editing and developing documentation, designing graphics and layouts, and using industry-standard publishing tools to prepare content for release—all while contributing to products that help pilots and maintainers perform at their best.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or a related field.
  • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and page‑layout skills with sharp attention to detail.
  • Solid computer skills and comfort with Microsoft Office; experience with publishing or multimedia tools is a plus.
  • Ability to manage deadlines, stay organized, and work effectively within a structured process.
  • Ability to obtain/maintain a DoD Secret clearance and Special Program Access; U.S. citizenship required.
  • Willingness to support occasional overtime, shift work, weekend work, and CONUS travel.
  • Due to U.S. Government contract requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this role.

Nice To Haves

  • Ability to understand technical subject matter and convert it into clear, accessible documentation.
  • Familiarity with style guides, DoD standards, and structured authoring practices.
  • Knowledge of directory structures, configuration management, and documentation workflows.
  • Experience with HTML, XML, or other web‑authoring tools is helpful.
  • Optional additional coursework in desktop publishing, multimedia production, or online authoring tools.
  • Familiarity with tools like GitHub/GitLab, Jenkins, or Atlassian (school or project experience counts!).

Responsibilities

  • Write, edit, and proofread clear, accurate technical documentation.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into easy‑to‑understand text and visuals.
  • Apply DoD and industry style standards to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Use publishing tools (Microsoft Office, Acrobat, FrameMaker, Photoshop, Quicksilver) to create and update materials.
  • Organize content, manage document structures, and support configuration‑management workflows.
  • Collaborate with engineers, authors, and QA to verify accuracy and meet deadlines.
