About The Position
The Associate Technical Designer creates specifications for each style and ensures that product fit is reflected as indicated by design across samples and production. This is an in-office role at Southern Tide’s Downtown Greenville, South Carolina office.
Responsibilities
- Measure samples and check construction details on initial, salesman, and pre-production samples.
- Ensure fit and construction details are communicated to manufacturers in tech packs.
- Develop product specifications as needed.
- Order required sew-by samples.
- Work with Design to create new silhouettes each season.
- Create and maintain fit requests for new styles each season, track receipt of samples, and send feedback to manufacturers.
- Review garments with designers, identify problem areas, and suggest and execute fit adjustments.
- Create and maintain pre-production requests and samples each season, ensuring pre-production samples measure to approved specifications.
- Communicate fit changes and approvals to manufacturers, request revised samples when necessary, and update records.
- Identify ways to make the fit process more efficient and share recommendations with the team.
- Communicate with cross-functional teams about fit questions.
- Improve the fit of current styles by streamlining fit across categories.
