About The Position

The Associate Technical Designer creates specifications for each style and ensures product fit reflects the design intent across samples and production. This is an in-office role based at Southern Tide’s Downtown Greenville, South Carolina office.

The position works with designers, manufacturers, and cross-functional teams to review samples, communicate fit and construction details, manage fit and pre-production requests, and maintain accurate records. It also contributes to improving fit processes and streamlining fit across product categories.

Responsibilities

• Measure samples and check construction details on initial, salesman, and pre-production samples.
• Ensure fit and construction details are communicated to manufacturers in tech packs.
• Develop product specifications as needed.
• Order sew-by samples when required.
• Work with design to create new silhouettes each season.
• Create and maintain fit requests for new styles, track receipt of samples, and send feedback to manufacturers.
• Review garments with designers, identify problem areas, and suggest and execute fit adjustments.
• Create and maintain pre-production requests and samples each season.
• Ensure pre-production samples measure to approved specifications.
• Communicate fit changes and approvals to manufacturers, request revised samples when necessary, and update records.
• Identify and share ideas and recommendations to make the fit process more efficient.
• Communicate with cross-functional teams about fit questions.
• Improve fit of current styles by streamlining fit across categories.
