This is an opportunity for an Associate Systems Engineer with an interest in advancing and applying innovative systems engineering techniques to help solve some of our nation's most critical challenges. We are looking for highly motivated, adaptive, and self-directed candidates with motivation to join our technical workforce, expand their technical skills and capabilities, and grow our work supporting the development and deployment of nationally important solutions through Analytics, Model-Based Systems Engineering, Digital Engineering, Systems Architecture and Requirements Engineering, System-of-Systems and Systems Thinking practices. As an Associate Systems Engineer, you will leverage and grow your analytical, mathematical, and systems engineering expertise to support the analysis, design, implementation, and integration of enterprise systems and systems-of-systems, as well as mission analysis for federal agencies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or related engineering field.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python and MATLAB
  • Familiarity with Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) and Digital Engineering (DE) concepts
  • Experience with statistical analysis and modeling
  • Interest in complex multi-disciplinary problems
  • Willingness and ability to learn new tools/concepts in a variable environment of government sponsors
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a Secret U.S Government issued Security Clearance. Per the U.S. Government’s eligibility requirements, you must be a U.S Citizen to be considered for a security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference given to qualified candidates with active clearance
  • Advanced degree in related field of study
  • Experience with multi-disciplinary modeling and simulation (physics-level, engineering-level and/or socio-technical-level)
  • Experience with Digital Engineering integration through internship, research, or academic projects

Responsibilities

  • Using your understanding of systems and mission engineering, quantitative methods, and an awareness of sponsor needs to determine areas where MITRE can have an impact
  • Applying modern methods and tools such as Model-Based Systems Engineering, Digital Engineering, Mission Engineering, Mathematical Modeling, Machine Learning, and Data Analytics to assess capability needs, requirements, architectures, designs, performance constraints and gaps, proposed changes, and verification and test approaches
  • Evaluating and comparing alternative architectures using qualitative and quantitative techniques; exploring large trade-spaces and analyzing trade-offs
  • Identifying and developing metrics and analytical methods to measure and analyze relevant system properties, such as robustness, resiliency, interoperability, quality, and maintainability
  • Supporting requirements management, interface management, and architecture change management processes
  • Performing system design and development, including software development, systems modernization, modeling, analysis, and architecture
  • Supporting multiple tasks across several government-sponsored projects in a small- to large-team environment
