Associate Sr. SDET

Netspend•Austin, TX

About The Position

Netspend is seeking an experienced Associate Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to drive quality engineering, test automation, and reliability across its fintech technology ecosystem. The role focuses on building scalable automation frameworks and ensuring the quality, security, performance, and reliability of financial applications, payment workflows, and transaction-processing systems. The SDET collaborates with development, DevOps, product, and architecture teams and owns quality engineering from test planning and design through execution and release validation. The position involves automation across UI, API, integration, and end-to-end systems, including REST APIs, microservices, GraphQL, databases, and asynchronous workflows. It also includes validating transaction processing and financial data, integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines, testing system performance and reliability, and troubleshooting issues across distributed and cloud-native applications. The role contributes reusable tools, quality metrics, automation practices, code reviews, and mentorship of junior SDETs.

  • Experience with Agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
  • Hands-on knowledge of AI usage and AI tools.
  • Exposure to designing custom automation frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of microservices architecture, distributed systems, asynchronous processing, and event-driven workflows.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and analytical skills, with attention to detail, thoroughness, and ownership of work.
  • Strong expertise in API automation and REST API testing; familiarity with GraphQL is an advantage.
  • Experience in performance and scalability testing, including load generation, bottleneck identification, and system behavior analysis.
  • Proficiency with Git-based workflows, debugging, troubleshooting, and code reviews.
  • Strong ownership mindset and ability to work independently in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reusable test automation frameworks for UI, API, integration, and end-to-end testing.
  • Develop automated test solutions using Java, Python, or other suitable programming languages.
  • Build and maintain automated test suites for REST APIs, microservices, GraphQL, databases, and asynchronous workflows.
  • Validate financial transaction workflows, payment processing, transaction status updates, data integrity, and error-handling scenarios.
  • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and reliable releases.
  • Perform functional, regression, integration, performance, scalability, and reliability testing.
  • Design and execute load and stress tests to evaluate system behavior under peak transaction volumes.
  • Investigate and troubleshoot defects across distributed systems and cloud-native applications.
  • Collaborate with developers, architects, product managers, and DevOps teams to define test strategies and quality standards.
  • Develop reusable automation libraries, test utilities, service mocks, and test data management solutions.
  • Validate service reliability and deployment quality in containerized applications and Kubernetes-based environments.
  • Monitor test execution, analyze failures, and provide actionable insights through reports and quality metrics.
