About The Position

Netspend Corporation is a global financial services and technology company that provides prepaid, debit, cross-border payment, and loyalty solutions to consumers and enterprise partners. Netspend is seeking an experienced Associate Senior Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to drive quality engineering, test automation, and reliability across its fintech technology ecosystem. The role works closely with development, DevOps, and product teams to support the quality, security, performance, and reliability of financial applications, payment workflows, and transaction-processing systems. The position owns quality engineering from test planning and design through execution and release validation, and includes mentoring junior SDETs and contributing to automation practices and continuous improvement.

Requirements

6+ years of experience in software testing, test automation, and quality engineering, including substantial hands-on automation development.
Strong coding experience with Java or Groovy, Selenium, relational databases, unit testing frameworks, and performance testing.
Hands-on experience building testing frameworks using BDD Cucumber or TestNG.
Hands-on experience with frontend automation using Selenium, Appium, or another tool.
Hands-on experience with web services automation using Java or Groovy.
Hands-on experience in database testing and writing complex SQL.
Knowledge of a build tool such as Gradle, Maven, or ANT.
Good knowledge of CI/CD using Jenkins or GitLab, and exposure to continuous integration using Bamboo or Jenkins.
Experience with Agile methodologies and tools such as JIRA and Confluence.
Hands-on knowledge of AI usage and AI tools.
Exposure to designing custom automation frameworks.
Strong understanding of microservices architecture, distributed systems, asynchronous processing, and event-driven workflows.
Excellent communication, documentation, and analytical skills, attention to detail, thoroughness, and strong ownership of work.
Strong expertise in API automation and REST API testing; familiarity with GraphQL is an advantage.
Experience in performance and scalability testing, including load generation, bottleneck identification, and system behavior analysis.
Proficiency with Git-based workflows, debugging, troubleshooting, and code reviews.
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter, Gatling, or k6.
Familiarity with service virtualization and mocking tools such as WireMock.
Experience with Helm, service mesh technologies, and cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
Exposure to observability and monitoring tools such as Datadog, New Relic, or Splunk.
Experience with test reporting, quality metrics, and automation coverage analysis.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and maintain scalable, reusable test automation frameworks for UI, API, integration, and end-to-end testing.
Develop automated test solutions using Java, Python, or other suitable programming languages.
Build and maintain automated test suites for REST APIs, microservices, GraphQL, databases, and asynchronous workflows.
Validate financial transaction workflows, payment processing, transaction status updates, data integrity, and error-handling scenarios.
Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines to enable continuous testing and reliable releases.
Perform functional, regression, integration, performance, scalability, and reliability testing.
Design and execute load and stress tests to evaluate system behavior under peak transaction volumes.
Investigate and troubleshoot complex defects across distributed systems and cloud-native applications.
Collaborate with developers, architects, product managers, and DevOps teams to define test strategies and quality standards.
Develop reusable automation libraries, test utilities, service mocks, and test data management solutions.
Validate service reliability and deployment quality in containerized applications and Kubernetes-based environments.
Monitor test execution results, analyze failures, and provide actionable insights through test reports and quality metrics.
Test security-sensitive workflows, access controls, data validation, and negative scenarios.
Mentor junior SDETs and contribute to automation best practices, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Own quality engineering activities from test planning and design through execution and release validation.
