Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
  • 0–2 years of professional, internship, or project experience in software engineering, with exposure to both backend and frontend development
  • Some familiarity with Java, Spring Boot, and database technologies such as MongoDB (coursework, internship, or project experience is welcome)
  • Basic understanding of RESTful APIs
  • Working knowledge of JavaScript, HTML/CSS, and React fundamentals
  • Exposure to modern JS tooling (npm/Webpack) and a willingness to grow into TypeScript, state management (Redux/Zustand/React Query), and testing (Jest)
  • Solid foundational problem-solving and analytical ability
  • Understanding of Git and collaborative development workflows
  • Familiarity with, or interest in learning, CI/CD and cloud environments (AWS/GCP/Azure)
  • Strong curiosity and eagerness to learn new technologies and domains
  • Receptive to feedback and coaching, with a growth-oriented attitude
  • Collaborative, detail-oriented, and dependable

Responsibilities

  • Build and ship well-tested features across the frontend and backend, with guidance and support from senior engineers
  • Work closely with Product Managers, Designers, and other Engineers in an agile environment to deliver features and enhancements
  • Write clean, readable, and tested code; participate actively in code reviews and incorporate feedback
  • Ramp up quickly on Ontic's tech stack and domain, and seek out feedback and mentorship to accelerate your development
  • Investigate and resolve bugs and issues, escalating and collaborating with senior engineers as needed
  • Contribute ideas and perspective in technical design discussions for the features you work on
