About The Position

We’re looking for an Associate Shell Production Engineer to serve as the Process Owner for our Shell Department at Chromalloy Castings Tampa. In this role, you will lead the engineering, optimization, and continuous improvement of the ceramic shell and dewaxing processes used to manufacture complex aerospace investment castings. As the technical expert for your area, you will develop robust manufacturing processes, solve production challenges, and drive improvements in safety, quality, throughput, and scrap reduction. At Chromalloy, your work directly supports aviation safety and reliability. Our teams repair and manufacture critical aerospace components used across the global aviation industry. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Ceramic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • 0-1 year of manufacturing or process engineering experience, preferably in aerospace, investment casting, foundry, ceramics, or similar industries.
  • Experience interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical requirements.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience troubleshooting manufacturing equipment and process-related issues.
  • Ability to develop technical procedures, work instructions, and process documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with investment casting, ceramic shell manufacturing, dew operations, or aerospace manufacturing.
  • Knowledge of pyrometry, furnace operations, and temperature control systems.
  • Experience with SPC, process capability analysis, and data-driven problem solving.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Experience sourcing and implementing manufacturing equipment, tooling, or process upgrades.
  • Knowledge of aerospace quality standards and quality management systems.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent certification.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the engineering owner for ceramic shell and dewaxing operations.
  • Develop and optimize manufacturing processes that meet customer specifications, quality requirements, and production schedules.
  • Analyze engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to create and maintain process procedures.
  • Develop and maintain shop instructions, standards, and process documentation to support consistent production practices.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing processes, furnaces, and production equipment to identify and resolve performance issues.
  • Support equipment calibrations, preventative maintenance activities, and repairs.
  • Perform and evaluate pyrometry surveys to ensure accurate temperature control and process compliance.
  • Partner with Operations, Quality, and Maintenance teams to support production goals and resolve technical challenges.
  • Drive improvements in safety, quality, throughput, and scrap reduction through data-driven problem solving and root cause analysis.
  • Identify, evaluate, and implement process improvements, equipment upgrades, tooling, and fixtures to improve operational performance.
  • Source equipment and supplies, coordinate vendor quotations, and support implementation activities.
  • Lead initiatives that improve process reliability, efficiency, and overall manufacturing performance.
