About The Position

Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC is seeking an Associate, Settlements in New York, New York. This role involves ensuring all settlement-related queries and requests from trading desks are addressed, escalating control failures to management, and partnering with risk managers for remediation plans. The position requires investigating and resolving discrepancies, managing client expectations, and identifying process improvements for scalability and risk mitigation. Responsibilities also include coordinating with external clients for timely settlements, resolving outstanding balance queries, participating in enhancement projects for confirmation processes, investigating payments and escalating breaks, and designing process improvements through system flow understanding.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Finance, Economics, or related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in the job offered or in a related role.
  • Two (2) years of experience with trade booking reviews.
  • Two (2) years of experience validating trade information (including asset class- and region-specific trade information).
  • Two (2) years of experience streamlining essential reporting, and knowledge sharing.
  • Two (2) years of experience communicating complex issues and concepts to a wide array of internal partners with differing levels of product experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience with advanced Microsoft Excel including working with macros, pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and IF/AND formulas.
  • Two (2) years of experience identifying process flaws and propose solutions to maximize efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all settlement-related queries and requests brought by trading desks are appropriately addressed.
  • Escalate and summarize control failures to team management.
  • Partner with embedded risk managers to develop a remediation plan to address and prevent recurrence.
  • Ensure all discrepancies are appropriately investigated and resolved, while managing client expectations and potential fail exposure.
  • Identify processes and controls improvement by leveraging tools used to build scalability while mitigating new risks.
  • Coordinate with external clients to ensure timely execution of settlements and resolve all outstanding queries on balances.
  • Participate in enhancement projects across teams to improve scalability and efficiency of confirmation process.
  • Investigate and ensure payments are made by appropriate industry cut offs and any resulting breaks are escalated in a timely manner to the business.
  • Design and initiate process improvements through thorough understanding of template architecture and system flows.
