About The Position

BDO is seeking an Associate/ Senior Associate, Transaction Services to join their Deal Advisory team in Toronto. This role involves performing financial analyses, preparing due diligence reports, and communicating with various transaction parties. The successful candidate will contribute to business development initiatives and may occasionally support other business units. Requirements

  • Existing CPA designation, pursuit of CBV or CFA an asset
  • 2-3 years of professional experience, with 1 or more years of transaction services experience considered an asset
  • Highly motivated, autonomous and able to work under pressure
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong business acumen and analytical skills
  • Excellent written and oral communications skills
  • Skilled in building a network and effective working relationships
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Excel, PowerPoint, Word)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with VBAs, Marcos, Power Pivot, Power Query and Power BI an asset

Responsibilities

  • Perform market, industry and company research
  • Evaluate a business’ historical performance and financial projections
  • Understand key accounting policies and management control environments
  • Perform various in-depth financial analyses on companies including analyzing and understanding the sustainability of earnings and cash flows, operating working capital requirements, quality of assets and key drivers of financial performance (revenues and margins, operating expenses, etc.)
  • Interpret analysis and assist in the preparation of detailed buy-side and sell-side due diligence reports
  • Undertake smaller assignments or assist on larger assignments reporting to a manager, senior manager, or a partner
  • Support various business development initiatives including pitches and proposals
  • Communicate directly with various transaction counterparties including the client, target, potential buyers, other advisors and lenders
  • Contribute to the effective working of the team and development of team moral
  • Occasionally support one of our other business units in a cross-functional role (e.g. Valuations, M&A, Commercial Due Diligence, Restructuring, etc.)
